Mercer Union Gallery

As a resident and realtor that lives in the Bloor and Lansdowne area I thought I would like to start a project of documenting the changes that are taking place in my neighbourhood. I also wanted this to be a space where people could discuss these changes as
well as post any new gallery, restaurant or event happenings.
I find this to be a fascinating neighbourhood full of diversity and
colour. Feel free to post your thoughts and ideas as well as photos or videos if you have.

Just opened as of June 2 2009 is Starving Artist at 584 Lansdowne Ave. A restaurant featuring sweet and savory waffles, great coffee and local art. It has a hip vibe and is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
Toronto Free Gallery
I'm playing a little catch-up with these pics.

Here we have an art opening at the gallery that started it all on Bloor/Lansdowne - The Toronto Free Gallery.
They have a great space in the front as well as a fun party and gallery space in the back. After an opening a DJ usually spins music late into the evening.
Toronto Free is located at 1277 Bloor St West and their site and events can be found at: http://www.torontofreegallery.org/
Paul Bright Gallery
The Paul Bright Gallery - located at 1265 Bloor St West.
I believe they sell American Art exclusively and you can correct me if I'm wrong. It's a little more low key than the other galleries but their art is always very interesting.
You can check out their website and upcoming shows at: http://paulbrightgallery.com/
Mercer Union Gallery

Mercer Union Gallery scored big by leasing a big beautiful space on the corner of Bloor and St Clarens. Taking over what used to be a dollar store they did a painstaking renovation which is almost complete. They are still working on the exterior of the building. It is a gorgeous space and you can pop in any time to view the art.
Upcoming events and exhibitions can be found at: http://www.mercerunion.org/
